The Event

Alma Burn is located on the Guadalupe River in Central Texas. There are many potential risks, and you are responsible for reading the Survival Guide and being fully prepared for the event and any hazards it may have.

You must bring all the food, water, shelter, and safety supplies you will need to survive the four day weekend. There are no vendors, and we will not provide any supplies. Make sure you bring personal items such as toilet paper, prescription medications, soap, aspirin, insulin, contraceptives, inhalers, and any other personal items you need to be comfortable. You should bring your own first aid kit. Flora, fauna, terrain and weather are all dangerous and unpredictable. You must be radically self-reliant and prepare for any hazardous conditions.

THERE ARE NO LIFEGUARDS! You swim at your own risk. If you do not know how to swim, or are not sober enough to swim safely,, stay out of the water. The Guadalupe River is a constantly moving body of water, and depending on flow, can move very swiftly. ABSOLUTELY NO MINORS IN OR AROUND THE RIVER WITHOUT A PARENT OR GUARDIAN! If you put yourself or someone else in danger, you will be ejected from the event.

You must read the Survival Guide. There will be a quiz.

Roaring 20s

Dearest Community,

In light of new developments, it is with a heavy heart that we must inform you all that Alma Burn 2020 will not be happening this April. We appreciate that you have all been so kind and patient during this difficult decision.

Part of the delay in releasing this statement has been our desire to have a complete plan in place. So while we will not be continuing this April, please read the following important updates.

  1. We will NOT be postponing for a later date in 2020. Our home, Mountain Breeze, is not available to us until late fall, early winter. With the close proximity to other Texas burns that may be continuing at that time, as well as the close proximity to our own burn for 2021, it is not possible, either physically or financially, to have Alma Burn later this year. We would if we could, but we just cannot.

  2. We WILL continue Alma Burn 2020: Roaring 20s in April of 2021. That means we will continue with the current theme.

  3. We WILL continue to fund and encourage the completion of all the approved art grants. We hope by doing so we can not only be supportive of our creative community, but we also hope we have an opportunity to see these amazing projects at Alma Burn 2021.

  4. We WILL be honoring the current tickets. Ticket exchange through our ticket site will remain open, though please give us time to figure out the logistics. In the meantime- please hold off buying or selling tickets. We will let you know as soon as we have a solid plan regarding tickets.

  5. We will NOT be issuing refunds. But that issue can be addressed by ticket transfers later.

  6. We will NOT be having Cabal or Social events for the time being. When it is safe to begin meeting again, we will let you know of any upcoming events.

  7. We WILL continue later in the year (when public gatherings are safe again) with our regularly scheduled events, such as the Burnies and our seasonal campouts. We will update our calendars regularly based on the most up to date information.

Please submit any questions here:

Thank you all for your support and understanding during these difficult times. We’d like to leave you with the following thoughts:

Times may be difficult, but we can still support each other from afar. Instead of using our community social media as an outlet for frustration and discord, take a moment to share something good. Are you creating something? Share your progress. Do you know of a fun event happening in cyberspace? Share the details. Experimenting with some interesting new recipes? Let us know how they taste. Let us stay united and be a calm place during this storm.

Much love,

Ambassador, Debe, Kitty, Ninja, Paul, and St. Tiki
